In the Company of Wolves: An American Journey

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

Susan Kucera, “With surprising and little-known histories that stretch back to England before unfolding across the landscapes of the American West, I never intended to make a film only about wolves, although they figure prominently throughout. It is through wolves, bison, horses, sheep, cattle, and other animals that the film explores the strange contradictions, myths, unexpected connections, competing ideas of freedom, and the invention of the American frontier. - And of course, Jeff Bridges carries the story with curiosity, humanity, and gravitas.”

Jeff Bridges on the film, “It reminds us that the wild and the domesticated have always reflected the deeper story of who we are as a nation — and who we might yet become.” — Bridges is using this venture to support several conservation organizations with his compensation, including The Vital Ground Foundation, a land trust that directly protects and connects wildlife habitat in the Northern Rocky Mountains.

Anna Kirsch, Narrative Writer, Co-producer, “The film sheds light on America’s vast public landscapes, now held in common, and how the fate of both wolves and land continues to shape the frontier mythology and the story America tells about itself.”
