After many years as a senior leader with ARCO and BP, Ivan transitioned to the entertainment industry by helping to create Altar Identity Studios in 2012. There, he executive produced and produced multiple film projects, including the comedy fantasy favorite Knights of Badassdom starring Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn, Summer Glau, and Peter Dinklage, as well as the romantic comedy Big Stone Gap featuring Ashley Judd, Whoopi Goldberg, and Patrick Wilson. In addition to films, Ivan put Zachary Levi and Krysta Rodriguez on stage by executive producing the Broadway musical First Date. Since then, Ivan has executive produced the hit comedy web series Be Here Nowish Season 2, co-produced the SXSW thriller M.F.A., which starred Francesca Eastwood and Clifton Collins Jr., helped finance the acclaimed documentary This Changes Everything, executive produced by Geena Davis, and executive produced the documentary Creating Woodstock, which featured never-before-seen interviews with key figures who made the legendary 1969 music festival happen. Current projects include a New York City dramedy titled Ramona at Midlife that is winning over fans and juries on the film festival circuit, a recent Bermuda marine conservation short documentary titled Heart of the Sea, which had a well-received world premiere at Dubai’s UN COP28, and getting his next big theater show, Hippest Trip: The Soul Train Musical, to New York City. At the same time, Ivan is co-executive producing a period drama in Germany and Poland called Girl From Köln, which tells a female empowerment story built around one of the most famous jazz concerts in history, producing a major documentary about misinformation/disinformation and AI titled How to Build a Truth Engine with executive producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov, and co-executive producing a documentary called Coal Country, which is partnering with Coalfield Development to create a first-of-its-kind approach to establishing an environmentally sustainable economy in West Virginia. Ivan is a veteran U.S. Navy Reserve intelligence officer and a Dean’s Scholar MBA graduate from the University of California, Irvine. He has helped launch multiple media technology startups, helped design a new film and tech festival, and co-founded two ecologically oriented, technology-enabled, art nonprofits. All of this happened while he actively participated in the Producers Guild of America and served as a distinguished member of the New York City-based Creative Coalition arts advocacy organization. Williams is an adjunct professor at the University of California, Irvine, and sits on the boards of the AI script analysis and packaging technology company ScriptHop, Re|Space real estate development company, the nonprofit Broadway theater development organization Apples and Oranges Arts, and the pre-professional theater training program Broadway Dreams. He also holds a seat on the Directors Council of the planned 80,000-square-foot Langson Institute and Museum of California Art, which will house the world’s largest collection of California-related art.
